Our Commitment

Orthoguyz is committed to providing athletic training services in accordance with the Wisconsin Athletic Trainer Practice Act and the rules established by the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services (DSPS). All athletic training services are performed by licensed Wisconsin Athletic Trainers practicing within their professional scope of practice and in accordance with applicable state law.

Services We Provide

Orthoguyz athletic trainers may provide services including:

  • Injury prevention education
  • Emergency injury recognition and management
  • Musculoskeletal injury evaluation
  • Functional movement and return-to-play assessments
  • Injury triage and recommendations
  • Therapeutic exercise and rehabilitation
  • Therapeutic modalities when appropriate
  • Return-to-play progression
  • Communication with athletes, parents, coaches, physicians, and other healthcare providers
  • Injury prevention programming for teams and organizations

Our Philosophy

Our goal is to provide timely access to sports medicine expertise while helping athletes receive the right care at the right time.

Whenever possible, we strive to:

  • Reduce delays in injury evaluation
  • Improve communication between athletes, parents, coaches, and healthcare providers
  • Promote safe participation in athletics
  • Guide athletes through rehabilitation and return-to-sport decisions
  • Connect athletes with orthopedic or sports medicine specialists when additional medical evaluation is needed

Scope of Care

Orthoguyz athletic trainers evaluate injuries and illnesses sustained during physical activity using evidence-based clinical examination techniques that may include:

  • Medical history
  • Observation
  • Palpation
  • Range of motion assessment
  • Strength testing
  • Neurological screening
  • Functional movement assessment
  • Circulatory assessment
  • Special orthopedic testing, when appropriate

Treatment and rehabilitation may include:

  • Therapeutic exercise
  • Stretching and flexibility programs
  • Progressive strengthening
  • Balance and proprioceptive training
  • Cryotherapy and thermotherapy
  • Compression therapy
  • Soft tissue techniques
  • Functional rehabilitation
  • Return-to-sport progression

These services are consistent with procedures authorized under Wisconsin Administrative Code AT Chapter 4.

Referral Guidelines

Athletic trainers recognize situations that require referral to another healthcare provider.

Orthoguyz will recommend referral whenever:

  • A condition falls outside the scope of athletic training practice.
  • Emergency medical care is indicated.
  • Diagnostic imaging or additional medical evaluation is warranted.
  • Symptoms fail to improve as expected.
  • Surgical or specialty consultation may be appropriate.

When appropriate, athletes are referred to licensed physicians, orthopedic specialists, physical therapists, or other qualified healthcare professionals in accordance with Wisconsin law.

Virtual Athletic Training

Orthoguyz utilizes secure telehealth technology to improve access to licensed athletic trainers for athletes, parents, schools, and organizations.

Virtual athletic training services may include:

  • Injury consultation
  • Initial injury screening
  • Rehabilitation progression
  • Exercise instruction
  • Return-to-play guidance
  • Parent and coach education
  • Follow-up evaluations
  • Coordination with healthcare providers

Virtual care is not intended to replace emergency medical services. Athletes experiencing life-threatening injuries or medical emergencies should call 911 immediately.
